Foul called on the (mis)use of Neighborhood Association Name and (mis)information in promoting Richardson TX bond vote

Continuing the editorial posts about the bond this week, here from several public sources,

.....the spirit of the by-laws have been violated with the continued use of it's president's name, title and the association name by Andrew Laska and the YES campaign. We are a city of neighborhoods and the neighborhood associations should be first mindful of maintaining the unity of the spirit of the neighborhood before they get too far out there thinking they know what is best for the neighborhood without checking with the members first.

from mbtrt.blogspot.com,

Received a postcard from Neighborhoods for Richardson
today; I assume everyone else did, too.

"100% of these projects were requested by you, , the residents of Richardson. Your city leadership listened."

Uh, no. Some of the more vocal residents screamed for pet projects the same way baby birds scream for worms.

---------

Other posters on the topic pointed to feeling some projects were introduced by city employees, not neighborhoods for (in) Richardson, so felt the post card and name of the PAC was misleading.

It was pointed out elsewhere that in the latest filing for that PAC, funding showed predominently from sources outside of Richardson. These concerns coupled with no neighborhood associations reporting voting on the bond stance (many are prohibited in their bylaws from doing so), leads to questioning of the veracity of the PAC and its statements, including the use of neighborhood associations' names.

Questions arose on how Laska, a brand new neighborhood association president and an unknown to Richardson politics outside of the last three years, who used his neighborhood title in the Yes campaign had obtained email addresses that were provided specifically only for use by another PAC. Others who are part of the lobbying effort for the YES campaign repeat Laska's statement that all the projects were requested by residents.

Laska repeats his claim about the source of 100% of bond projects in all apparent earnestness in a letter to the editor on the DMN site, and on other sites, including a site bearing the name of a newspaper that used to be published in Richardson to which Laska lays claim. He makes no remarks about whether he obtained email addresses from another PAC. No comments to his letter to the editor have been posted as of yet.
